Please share your experience of living under the flight path!
We are deeply concerned about the health, climate and environmental impacts of aviation air and noise pollution.
Aviation carbon air pollution/Greenhouse Gas (GHG) is an alarming 16% of all GHG emissions in King County.
We’ve taken a beating.
Pres. Trump reversed federal Environmental Protection Action policies allowing FAA to conclude that SeaTac Airport’s 80K flight service expansion has no significant impact on the already impacted health, environment and climate of our communities. The impacted communities include significant numbers of people of color, immigrants and refugee communities making this an equity issue.
Sen. Tina Orwall’s SB 5652 bill helps address these concerns.
WHY IS BILL SB 5652 GOOD FOR US:
Its purpose is to reduce environmental and health disparities, and improve health of residents in large port districts that includes Port of Seattle that runs SeaTac Airport.
It requires the Port to:
have an environmental justice plan in its strategic action plan with mitigations for noise and air emissions health impacts.
engage with our overburdened/vulnerable communities in appropriate ways.
obtain from UW and King County Public Health an adverse cumulative impact assessment and mitigation recommendations.
based on the assessment and recommendations, spend the funds to reduce/eliminate the harms, maximize environmental benefits, and prevent adding cumulative harms.
WHAT YOU CAN DO ASAP:
